Integrating Final Project; Full-scale Final Work

ABSTRACT

UM ESAD, like many other schools of architecture, closes its cycle of studies with the delivery of a Final Project; The substantial difference perhaps lies in the strong social component that as a guideline has the proposal of the school and that is mainly manifested in that each student receives projecting, managing and constructing a building that will be donated to a needy community in our country.

This thesis program was born in 2016 and it is called “PAAF! ACADEMIC PROGRAM OF FEDERAL ASSISTANCE.

Under this framework, more than 400 students have already participated and 45 works have been built working together with different municipalities, institutions and social actors; In addition to a list that grows day by day of sponsoring companies coming from the private sector. At the end, the students are received with applause and congratulations and in addition to the human and mobilizing experience they have had, they already have a work built from their own ideas and convictions to tell the world.

In our country, as in many others in Latin America, while debate, thinking and planning are carried out from the big capitals and with an eye outwardly or in the vicissitudes of politics, sectors of extreme poverty do not see their basic needs covered nor their inalienable rights, inherent to the human condition, contemplated in any sense.

From this point of view we have put the whole university community to work, to think about how to solve everything within our reach of this unworthy present, imagining of course a better future.
